I am now a judicial officer for the State of Alaska. My deputy magistrate certification arrived last week while I was out of town, and I was sworn in today by Judge Torrisi.
I just have to do five hearings while supervised by a judge or magistrate and then I'll be doing weekend arraignments by myself once a month.
A year out of law school and I'm working as a judge before I've even tried a case.
Not bad.

Congratulations! From now on, I shall call you "Deputy Baker."
I am humble in your exalted presence, Mr. Magistrate Deputy Sir. Congrats!
