Just another short post (that's three posts between Samara and I for one day!), to explain where we are. I was prompted by Samara's dad, who was asking her what county we were in.
Alaska actually doesn't have counties. 48 states do, but Louisiana has parishes, and Alaska has boroughs. There are 16 boroughs in Alaska, which are sort of like counties.
So which borough are we in?
We're not. We're in the "unorganized borough," which encompasses any area that's not actually in another borough. That's a lot of Alaska, really. So it's administered by the state. There's no "county-level" government. It's just the state of Alaska, and then the town of Dillingham.
If anyone else has Alaska-related trivia-type questions, ask and I'll see what I can do to answer them.
